In Peru, "chuncho" means "wild-grown." This is the name given to the cacao beans used to make Qantu chocolate. The producers live in remote mountain villages with a cold climate and descend into the jungle for the harvest. Chuncho cacao is picked only once a year, at full maturity and in small quantities. These centuries-old trees, which grow on the mountainsides, are immense; harvesting is therefore an arduous task requiring considerable physical effort.
